NuEnergy
Operating, Inc. was
formed in August 2003 as a full service, fully integrated company that
operates, drills, and completes oil and gas wells in the state of Michigan.
We provide a broad range of services, both standard and custom, designed to
meet our customers’ demands.
Accounting (OGSYS), Petroleum Engineering, Revenue Distribution, Joint
Interest Billing, Land Management, Field Operations, and Supervision of

March 2009: Jeff Smetzer, NuEnergy’s
President, recently spoke before the Michigan Association of Professional
Landmen. The topic was "Are you doing acceptable land work, or
exceptional land work?."
Additionally, Jeff has tentatively accepted a speaking engagement for Sept
24-25 in Washington, D.C. at the National Association of Division Order
Analysts annual meeting. The topic will be a review of Michigan oil
and gas titles and statutes.
March 2009: Tim Brock,
NuEnergy’s VP of Operations, delivered a presentation before the Petroleum
Technology Transfer Council on March 26, 2009. He discussed
considerations when planning a development on the southern edge of the
Northern Michigan Antrim play. The presentation incorporated
information gathered from NuEnergy’s Silverwolf USP as a case study.

February 2009: NuEnergy's Silverwolf project is nearing
online status.
February 2009: NuEnergy
continues to pursue opportunities in the
Antrim Shale and in horizontal redrills of Niagaran reefs in Michigan, as
well as an exploitation /exploration program to target other shallow oil
zones such as the Berea Sandstone and other shale gas plays.
Melissa McClerren, Joint Interest
Account: Melissa joined our
staff in February 2007 and has a B.S. in Accounting and graduated with high
honors. She is currently pursuing her MBA in Accounting from Davenport
University and has taken classes in forensic accounting, accounting information
systems and quantitative analysis for decision making. Melissa also teaches
classes in Managerial Accounting, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft
Access and other courses at Davenport University.
Ron Hartman, I.T. Support Specialist:
Ron has provided computer related support for NuEnergy since it's inception.
A 1971 graduate of Michigan State University, Ron offers a diverse
background in network and telephone support, website design, database design
and programming, desktop support, and graphic design.
Kris Hartman, Office Manager:
Kris has over 18 years
experience in the oil and gas business primarily as office manager for at
least two companies over that period of time in which her duties included
travel coordinator, personal assistant to the president of the company,
secretarial and purchasing. At NuEnergy she has those responsibilities plus
the additional responsibilities for securing MDEQ permits and bonds,
production reporting, and works extensively on all types of insurance
coverage.
Karen L. Thomas, Accounting
Manager: Karen has over 19 years of experience
in Accounting for the Oil and Gas Industry. This includes multi-company
activities for Joint Interest Billing, Revenue Accounting, Accounts Payable,
Reporting and Tax preparation for Partnerships, Corporate and Tax
Accounting. Karen is an active member and on the Board for the Council of
Petroleum Accountants Society (COPAS) since 1995 and a member of Desk &
Derrick since 2002.
Timothy J.
Brock, P.E., Vice President of Operations:
Tim has a BS in Geological Engineering from Michigan Technological
University and has worked for the last 30 years for various companies
operating in the Michigan Basin. He started out working as an engineer for
Amoco Production Company and has since worked as either an engineer or
engineering manager for Dart Oil and Gas Corporation and CMS NOMECO Oil and
Gas Company. His experience has been in production engineering, reservoir
engineering, log analysis, economics and drilling engineering. Tim is a
member of the Board of Directors of the Michigan Oil and Gas Association, is
a registered professional engineer in the State of Michigan and is a member
of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Society of Petroleum
Evaluation Engineers. Tim has been an engineering consultant since 1997 and
has experience throughout the United States as well as internationally in
Australasia and South America. As a founding partner in NuEnergy Operating,
Tim brings a wealth of experience to our team.

Jeffrey A. Smetzer, CPL,
President:
Jeff is a graduate of The Ohio State University with degrees in Agriculture
and has been in the oil and gas business since 1980. He has worked
primarily as a landman and earned the Certified Professional Landman
designation in 1996 and is a past president of the Michigan Association of
Professional Landman. He has worked in numerous eastern states as contract
landman for such companies as Amoco, Robert Mosbacher, GE Capital, CMS
NOMECO Oil and Gas Company, EnerVest Operating, LLC, and partners of
Chevron, Dominion Reserves and numerous independents. He has worked in all
phases of in house land work and has numerous years of experience as a field
landman including due diligence work. As a founding partner and President
of NuEnergy Operating, Inc. his responsibilities are the day to day
operations of the company, gas marketing, negotiating contracts and well
trades.
